  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Kaizer Chiefs have been crowned DStv Diski Challenge Champions for the first time ever in the competition's 11-year history.

The crowning came after the Soweto giants beat Magesi FC 3-0 at Dobsonville Stadium on Saturday with goals coming from Imaad Hendricks, Nkosana Mbuthu and Thubani Mabaso.

They dethrone Stellenbosch who were last season's champions.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Amakhosi are now DDC champions with one league game to go with seven points clear of second-placed Stellenbosch, to cap a fine season.

Interestingly, they won their last match with a depleted team that did not have five key players who are with Amajita at the 2025 Africa Under-20 Cup of Nations.

Chiefs reserve side has been crowned champions at a time when their senior counterparts have been struggling to end a 10-year trophy drought.

    WHAT NEXT FOR CHIEFS?

Some of Vela Khumalo's boys are expected to graduate into Nasreddine Nabi's senior team next season.

Scrutiny will be on them to see if they will make an impact like Mbekezeli Mbokazi and Mohau Nkota at Orlando Pirates, as well as Mamelodi Sundowns centre-back Malibongwe Khoza.
