  • WHAT HAPPENED?

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

The incident happened a day after the Czech Republic drew 1-1 with Poland in Warsaw. The result means that the Czechs need only to avoid defeat to Moldova in Olomouc on Monday to qualify for Euro 2024. The trio were reportedly partying with local league players whose season had finished on Saturday.

  • WHAT THE CZECH FA SAID

A statement published by the Czech FA read: "Three players fundamentally violated the internal rules of the national team on Saturday night. Jakub Brabec, Vladimir Coufal and Jan Kuchta have left the national team meeting with immediate effect by the decision of the management."

WHAT NEXT FOR COUFAL AND THE CZECH REPUBLIC?

Coufal will return to London ahead of West Ham's trip to Burnley next weekend. Should the Czech Republic secure a place at Euro 2024, it's likely the defender will need to do some serious apologising in order to win back his place in the squad.
