Cedric Kaze hints who between Khanyisa Mayo, Etiosa Ighodaro & Flavio Silva will be Kaizer Chiefs' main forward after conceding 'it’s not easy to find that kind of striker'

The three strikers Amakhosi brought in

Recently, Ranga Chivaviro, Tashreeq Morris, and Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana are some of the big names who have failed to make the desired impact at Kaizer Chiefs.

Khanyisa Mayo, Flavio Silva, and Etiosa Ighodaro are the three new strikers, signed to deliver goals at Naturena, while Morris remains part of the squad.

The technical team and the management opted to go for the trio after parting ways with Chivaviro, as Morris struggles to fit in.

Mayo, Ighodaro and Silva, what is the story so far?

Silva has played more matches as opposed to the other two forwards and he has two goals to his name.

Former Cape Town City striker Mayo, who is on loan from CR Belouizdad, has hit the back of the net once.

Nevertheless, Ighodaro, who made his debut a couple of days ago against Siwelele in the Premier Soccer League, has a goal in two outings.

The only strike, so far, came on Sunday in the CAF Confederation Cup outing in the 3-1 over AS Simba, but he did enough to convince coach Cedric Kaze that he is the one they have been looking for.

    Not easy to find Ighodaro!

“I believe that it’s not easy to find that kind of striker; he is a scorer and a player who can help," he told the media.
“Sometimes you are struggling, you are defending deep down, and he is a player who, if there is a rebound or we play forward, he can hold the ball and allow the whole team to come up.
“It gives you the energy, and it allows every player to get in his right position going forward," Kaze continued.

"I would say we had missed that a lot because sometimes the ball goes forward and we lose it very quickly, then we have to come back, and it’s like a game of transition.
“But to have that kind of striker is very helpful," he concluded.

    Why Ighodaro shouldn't be confortable

As seen at Chiefs, the striker who delivers will always get his chance.

Silva started as the main striker, but that changed with the arrival of Mayo. Nevertheless, when the latter suffered a hamstring injury, Ighodaro came in, and all the signs show he will keep the position.

The Nigerian should continue scoring to maintain his position in the team.
