    WHAT HAPPENED?

Kermit Erasmus was recently training with National First Division outfit Cape Town Spurs, but he has suddenly stopped.

The Urban Warriors chief executive officer Alexi Efstathiou said they were ready to offer Erasmus a deal, subject to coach Ernst Middendorp being interested in the experienced star.

    WHAT ERASMUS SAID

"It is true that Kermit has been training with us," said Efstathiou as per Isolezwe.

"He was the one who asked for it. What surprised us was that he left without informing the coaches. We don't know where he is now, maybe he has found a team.

"Even though he asked to train with us, the truth is that we would like to sign him if the coaches are satisfied with his condition. It doesn't matter anymore, we wish him luck."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Erasmus has been a free agent since leaving Orlando Pirates when his contract expired in June.

It marked the end of his two-year second stint with the Buccaneers but his final season there was difficult with limited game time.

During the off-season break, he was linked with a return to Cape Town City, but no move materialised before he recently started training with Spurs.

    WHAT NEXT FOR ERASMUS?

It remains to be seen if Spurs will try to convince the veteran forward to return to their Ikamva training base and prepare a contract for him.

With some teams in the Premier Soccer League and NFD starting to realise their shortcomings upfront, Erasmus remains up for grabs in the market.
