Bafana Bafana star Percy Tau sends heartfelt message to Al Ahly upon his arrival at Qatar SC - 'Leaving is never easy'

Bafana Bafana forward Percy Tau has written a sincere goodbye note to his previous team Al Ahly after joining the Qatar Stars League club Qatar SC.

The 30-year-old attacker was announced by the West Asian club on Monday evening after recently leaving Al Ahly.

After spending four-and-a-half years with the Egyptian football giants, Tau expressed his gratitude to Ahly via a post on his X account.

Tau, who was strongly linked with PSL powerhouse Kaizer Chiefs before his transfer to Qatar, had reportedly fallen out with Ahly coach Marcel Koller, which is believed to be one of the factors behind his departure from the club.

His ups and downs at the Red Devils have adversely impacted him as he found himself omitted from several Bafana Bafana camps by Hugo Broos.

The Witbank native is anticipated to hit the ground running soon as he aims to assist his new club in turning their fortunes around as they currently hold the 11th position in the 12-team Qatar Stars League with merely 10 points from 12 matches.

Tau might make his debut for Qatar SC on Friday when they face the United Arab Emirates side Al Nasr in the UAE-Qatar Super Cup match.

Additionally, the man nicknamed Lion of Judah will be aiming to return to the Bafana Bafana setup ahead of the resumption of the 2026 Fifa World Cup qualifying campaign.
