WATCH: Percy Tau joins relegation-threatened Qatari club after leaving Al Ahly as Kaizer Chiefs miss out on Bafana Bafana vice-captain

Qatar SC announced the signing of South Africa international Percy Tau on Monday evening.

The accomplished forward recently parted ways with Al Ahly ending his four-and-a-half-year association with the Egyptian football heavyweights.

The eight-time Qatari champions did not disclose the length of Tau's contract, but he is rumoured to have signed a two-and-a-half-year deal with the ambitious club.

The King are currently embroiled in a battle to avoid relegation from the Qatar Stars League as they are placed 11th on a 12-team log standings.

Tau, who has been constantly linked with Kaizer Chiefs in the last 12 months, will be hoping to hit the ground running and help his new team retain its status in the elite league.

Tau could make his debut for Qatar on Friday when they take on United Arab Emirates side Al Nasr in the UAE-Qatar Super Cup clash.

The man nicknamed Lion of Judah will compete with the likes of Ahmed Abdel Kader, Ben Malango, Sebastián Soria and Jassem Al-Jalabi for a place in coach Youssef Safri's starting lineup.
