    WHAT HAPPENED?

Khuliso Mudau boycotted training with Mamelodi Sundowns as he pushed for a move away from the club amid transfer rumours linking him with clubs in North Africa and the Middle East.

That has seen the right back missing the seven games Masandawana have played across all competitions so far this season.

The former Black Leopards star only started training with Sundowns recently, as he is now in talks with the Brazilians for a new and improved contract.

Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has revealed how he had to step in by asking Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso to speak to Mudau regarding his situation.

    WHAT BROOS SAID

"First of all, stay in contact with the club and see what the situation really is, then ask the club if I can help, if I should help to solve the problem? So I got the agreement of the coach of Sundowns, that I could have a meeting with Khuliso,” Broos said as per iDiski Times.
“So I had a meeting with Khuliso, and I told him he was right in some things but he was not right in other things, like for example, not going to training, you don’t solve a problem by not going to training – even when there’s a disagreement between you and the club.
“This is an obligation of a player, if you don’t play, that’s something else, you can say okay, I won’t play until the problem is solved, but you have to go to training… so I think he’s training agains and I hope, as soon as possible, it’s solved, he’s the best right back of this country and one of the best in Africa.
“So you can’t… it’s difficult for me not to have him in my team, so it’s a duty for Bafana Bafana coach, to also help solve a problem like that.”

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Mudau's situation has seen Broos excluding him from his squad for September's 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Nigeria.

Nyiko Mobbie and Zuko Mdunyelwa will be battling for a place at right-back in the upcoming international matches.

After regaining match fitness, Mudau will have to get back on top of his game and be selected ahead of Mdunyelwa and Thapelo Morena at club level and then reclaim his national team spot.

    WHAT NEXT FOR MUDAU?

Having returned to training, Mudau will be hoping to reach an agreement for a new deal with Sundowns as soon as possible and fully focus on his game.

Also, a top priority for him would be to return to a high fitness level like his teammates.
