    WHAT HAPPENED?

Premier Soccer League side AmaZulu have terminated the contract of their midfielder Celimpilo Ngema, according to reports.

Usuthu have decided to part ways with the midfielder over allegations of alcoholism. Reports indicate that Ngema found himself under disciplinary watch after he arrived for a training session drunk and was consequently sent home.

He was then summoned to appear before a disciplinary committee, found guilty, and now has had his contract terminated.

    WHAT IS MORE

“Ngema is now a free agent and can decide where he wants to go,”SPORTSWIREreports.

"Ngema has seemingly become the first player to be shown an exit door by AmaZulu due to disciplinary issues," according to FARPost.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Before he signed for AmaZulu from Marumo Gallants in July 2023, Ngema was among the players who had been heavily linked with Kaizer Chiefs.

In the previous season before he joined Usuthu, he played a crucial role for Gallants, who reached the semi-final of the Caf Confederation Cup. They fell to Tanzania's heavyweights, Young Africans, then under current Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi.

In the last six PSL games, Ngema was not part of the team, having last appeared on the team sheet when they played Cape Town City. He was an unused substitute, though.
