    WHAT HAPPENED?

    Following a very impressive season under Thiago Motta at Bologna and impressing with Italy at Euro 2024, Calafiori has invited interest from Mikel Arteta and Arenal, and the Gunners have acted on that interest and are reportedly close to making the signing of the Italian.

    As per Corriere dello Sport, the 'monster' offer from Arsenal to Bologna is expected to be somewhere in the region of €55 million (£47m/$60m) as the Gunners know that the Serie A side has already rejected offers below €50m (£42m/$54m) from other clubs.

    As per the reports, which have also been confirmed by Fabrizio Romano, the Gunners have already agreed to personal terms with Calafiori as they have offered him a yearly wage of €4m (£3m/$4m) - much higher than his current Bologna wages.

    The 22-year-old is expected to sign a four-year contract at the Emirates and Chelsea, who were also interested in him, are set to miss out on the Italian's services.
