    WHAT HAPPENED?

Gary Cassisa, the agent of Tshegofatso Mabasa has revealed that the Orlando Pirates striker is a wanted man in Morocco.

This comes as Mabasa has been sidelined by the Buccaneers coach Abdeslam Ouaddou in the three competitive matches the Soweto giants have been involved in so far this season.

But transfer talk has surfaced with the possibility of the player moving to North Africa.

    WHAT CASSISA SAID

"Yes, there has been interest from Mas Fez, but Tshegofatso Mabasa remains committed to Orlando Pirates only," Cassisa told Soccer Laduma.

"He is closing in on the club's all-time leading goalscorer record and would like to make history with the Soweto giants."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Mabasa has been Pirates' highest scorer in the last two seasons, including the time he spent half a season out on loan at Moroka Swallows.

That is enough to attract foreign clubs, something he might consider should he feel unwanted by Ouaddou.

Also a move away from the Buccaneers and performing well could enhance his chances of convincing Hugo Broos that he deserves to go to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations finals with Bafana Bafana.

    WHAT NEXT FOR MABASA?

With Pirates having not won their last two Premier Soccer League matches, Ouaddou could succumb to pressure to use Mabasa.

The Buccaneers face a crucial MTN8 semi-final tie against Mamelodi Sundowns at the weekend, a high-stakes game that demands a prolific goal-scorer to lead their attack.
