Marcel Koller's squad had an advantage after securing a 0-0 draw away against Esperance in the first leg of the final. The holders wasted no time in opening the scoring, as captain Rami Rabia headed past Amenallah Memmiche to give his side the lead just four minutes in. However, the goal was later ruled as an own goal by Roger Aholou due to a deflection. Al Ahly created the better early chances, but their Tunisian opponents held firm at the back, hoping to find an equalizer at the other end of the field.&nbsp; However, by the final whistle, it was the Egyptian giants who managed to hold on to their gifted goal, walking away with the prestigious title.

The Red Devils have now extended their record number of wins in the continent’s top club competition to 12. Meanwhile, South Africa’s Percy Tau has bolstered his trophy collection at the club, now including one Egyptian Premier League, two Egyptian Cups, one Caf Super Cup, two Caf Champions Leagues and three Egyptian Super Cups.
