<p>Reynolds and McElhenney are eager to extend Wrexham's famous home ground and will present revised plans for a new 5,500-capacity Kop Stand at the start of February, the club have announced. The club's ultimate aim is for the new Kop Stand to be ready in time to feature in the 2026 UEFA European Under-19 Championship tournament that is being hosted in Wales. The changes to the stadium will also make it eligible to host other international events in the future.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>Wrexham had been hoping to start work on the refurbishments some time ago, with <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/wrexham-kop-stand-racecourse-ground-ryan-reynolds-rob-mcelhenney/blt94d595c40b3ac3ba" target="_blank">planning permission granted back in 2022</a>, but the project has been hit by delays. The latest update from the club is good news for Wrexham and the club's fans, with <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/wrexham-ryan-reynolds-rob-mcelhenney-reveal-plans-stok-cae-ras-stadium/blte2a85bcb646e6bc0#csa0d81c29aebc6718" target="_blank">Reynolds and McElhenney's ultimate dream</a> to create a home ground bid enough to accommodate "between 45,000 and 55,000" supporters.</p>

THE BIGGER PICTURE

<p>Wrexham chief executive Michael Williamson told the club's website: "The submission of the revised designs for the new Kop Stand is a major milestone for this hugely important project and an intense period of activity will follow in the coming months to complete the new Stand for summer 2026.&nbsp;Whilst the revised design utilises the original footprint and volume of the earlier approved design, we have strived over these past few months with our partners and design team to masterplan the STōK Cae Ras with the Kop Stand as the first phase. We want to create a stadium which is authentic, organic and in keeping with Wrexham. The design will therefore emphasise materials that reflect the strong heritage and character of Wrexham.&nbsp;By incorporating authentic materials, that are locally sourced wherever possible, we will create a sense of place that resonates with the city’s history and identity, ensuring the building is rooted in its environment, both visually and culturally.”</p>

WHAT WREXHAM SAID

<p>In the meantime, Wrexham will continue their promotion push as they sit just two points behind leaders Birmingham, who do have two games in hand. Phil Parkinson's side take on struggling Shrewsbury next on Thursday in League One.</p><p></p>
