Cristiano Ronaldo has added another entry to the history books, with the Portuguese becoming the first man to 800 wins in “top-level matches”.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner actually hit that mark when slipping out of the AFC Champions League with Al-Nassr. They suffered penalty shootout heartache in a quarter-final clash with Al Ain, but had prevailed 4-3 across 120 minutes to force spot-kicks.

Ronaldo technically has another victory to his name as a result, taking him to 800 in total. Nobody else can claim to have been so successful at the very highest level – with the 39-year-old’s return allowing him to collect league titles in England, Spain and Italy alongside five Champions League crowns and a European Championship triumph with his country.

Ronaldo has emerged victorious on 125 occasions when turning out for Portugal, through 205 appearances, while 675 of his wins have come at club level. Another marker has been put down to eternal rival Lionel Messi. With the Argentine icon yet to turn 37, a man with eight Golden Balls to his name and one currently enjoying plenty of success with MLS outfit Inter Miami could chase Ronaldo down at some stage.
