REPORT: Mitch Nichols faces drug charge

The midfielder - who has appeared five times for the Socceroos - is reportedly set to appear in court next month

The agent of former Western Sydney Wanderers midfielder Mitch Nichols has declined to comment on reports his client has been charged with possession of a prohibited drug.

When contacted by Goal on Wednesday, Nichols' agent Buddy Farah said "no comment" when asked about his client's situation.

The Daily Telegraph has reported Nichols was arrested in Sydney early on Saturday morning after a random drug sweep of a nightclub, with a video on Fox Sports' website showing the 28-year-old being escorted in handcuffs by plain-clothed police officers.

Wanderers farewell 10 players

Western Sydney announced last week that Nichols has left the club after two seasons with the Wanderers, with the attacking midfielder understood to be considering offers to play abroad.

Nichols scored 11 goals in 53 A-League appearances for the Wanderers.

He has also previously played for Perth Glory, Cerezo Osaka, Melbourne Victory and Brisbane Roar.

Football Federation Australia (FFA) and the Wanderers are aware of the "police matter" and the governing body's integrity department is investigating whether there has been any break of the FFA Code of Conduct.
