Mokotjo was worth fighting for, says Safa president Dr Danny Jordaan

South African Football Association (Safa) president Dr Danny Jordaan was full of praise for midfielder Kamohelo Mokotjo following Bafana Bafana's 3-1 win over Guinea-Bissau on Saturday afternoon.

Mokotjo hogged the headlines as he was trying to regain his South African citizenship ahead of the international friendly match at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

Safa worked around the clock to get Mokotjo's papers sorted out before the game as the player was determined to represent his country of birth again.

He was granted his SA citizenship on Friday, less than 24 hours before the match in Durban, and Jordaan admitted that Mokotjo was worth all the trouble given his performance on the day.

"I think it was worth fighting to get him back. I thought it was an incredible performance in midfield," Jordaan said after the game.

Jordaan was also pleased with debutant Percy Tau, who scored his first international goal soon after coming on as a second half substitute.

"What a start for Percy Tau! First tackle, a yellow card; second touch, a goal. I don't think you could ask for a better start for him. So, we wish him well," he said.

The Safa boss avoided the question around the appointment of the new Bafana Bafana coach, saying the focus should now be on their next game against Angola.
