Indian Super League: Mumbai City FC set to complete signing of Sehnaj Singh and Rakesh Oram

Mumbai City FC are making important strides towards building a strong squad once again as they gear towards the 2017-18 Indian Super League (ISL) season.

The Blues are all set to announce the retention of midfielder Sehnaj Singh, who was a vital cog in coach Alexandre Guimaraes’ plan. The Costa Rican coach used the former Mumbai FC midfielder as a right-back for most parts of the last season where he amassed 1179 minutes.

The 23-year-old is a highly rated defensive medio known for his hard tackling and no-nonsense defending. He is also known to have a shy on goal from distance.

Last season Mumbai City and Delhi Dynamos were involved in a tussle for his prized signature. However, Mumbai have done well to ensure that the Gurdaspur Academy product doesn’t go into the draft or opt to play in the I-League.

Mumbai have already retained the services of goalkeeper Amrinder Singh, who is currently India’s most expensive custodian.

Rakesh Oram, the 19-year-old midfielder, will once again don the blue colours as Mumbai City have signed him for another season. A product of the Sambalpur Academy in Odisha, he was also part of the All India Football Federation’s (AIFF) Elite Academy.

Mumbai City FC made into the ISL knockouts last season and will look to go one better by winning the competition for the very first time.
