Honduras face Mexico in the early hours of Monday morning in CONCACAF World Cup qualifying with El Tri looking for the win which would put them within touching distance of Qatar 2022.

It has been a disappointing campaign for Tata Martino's men with Mexico no longer the all-conquering continental force they once were.

Yet the Mexicans remain well placed to qualify for the World Cup with their two remaining matches coming against two of the most modest sides in the competition.

Honduras sit bottom of the table having failed to win any of their 12 games in the qualifying tournament.

La H are offered at 13/2 (7.50) with bet365 to claim their first victory, while the visitors are priced at 4/9 (1.44) and the draw can be backed at 16/5 (4.20).

Mexico's forwards lead the market in terms of first goal scorer, with Hirving Lozano and Henry Martin both offered at 9/2 (5.50) to break the deadlock.

Elsewhere Alexis Vega can be backed at 4/1 (5.00) while the shortest priced Honduran player to open the scoring is Romell Quioto at 17/2 (9.50).

The reverse meeting in Mexico earlier in the competition saw El Tri win 3-0, but the result was influenced by Honduras having to play almost the entire second half with 10 men.

Prior to Maynor Figueroa's red card, the score was only 1-0 to Mexico who had struggled to break down the resolute Honduran defence.

While Honduras are yet to win a World Cup qualifier in this competition, they have managed to keep the score down in their last few home matches, with three of their last five home qualifiers seeing under 2.5 goals.

Mexico's last three qualifiers have all seen less than three goals scored and opposing a high-scoring game at the Estadio Olimpico Metropolitano in San Pedro Sula could be a shrewd investment.
