Former Ghana Football Association president M.N.D Jawula insists Kwesi Nyantakyi's latest appointment as Confederations of African Football first vice president will be beneficiary to the country.
Nyantakyi, 47, who doubles as Fifa council member, was named as the vice president by Ahmad Ahmad on Monday together with Constant Omari as second vice.
“I am not surprised it has come to pass that Kwesi Nyantakyi is the first vice president of Caf. It is really good for Ghana,” Jawula told Starr FM.
“We should put our hands together and support Kwesi Nyantakyi so that we can benefit as a nation from his new role. This is because if he’s working hard out there and we don’t respect him, his efforts will go waste.
“With his new role, many Ghanaians will get the chance to serve on Caf’s various committees. There is a saying that when your mother is at the funeral, you never go hungry so that is our chance,” he added.
Nyantakyi will be in power until 2021 but has confirmed that he will not seek for reelection as Ghana FA president when his tenure ends in 2019.
