The Swansea boss believes the Ghana international is a positive addition to his squad

Swansea City coach Paul Clement is excited about the acquisition of Ghana striker Jordan Ayew.

The 25-year-old joined the Jack Army from Championship outfit Aston Villa on deadline day last week, having made 58 appearances for the latter.

The frontman is currently on international duty at the Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon, scoring in Ghana's 2-1 triumph over DR Congo in the semi-finals.

“He [Ayew] is a very positive option for us," Clement said.

"He is hungry and he is proving what he is capable of with Ghana at the moment.

“His performances at Aston Villa were mixed I think, but we see him as someone who has talent and who can have a big impact here.

“He is quick, he can run with the ball and he can score goals.”

Ayew is expected to link up with Swansea early next week after Ghana's third place playoff against Burkina Faso on Saturday.

The Black Star, who netted seven times for Aston Villa last season, has also played for Sochaux, Marseille and Lorient in the French topflight.
