Bettors who place a match odds wager on Wednesday night's Champions League clash will be paid as a winner if their chosen team scores the first goal

Manchester United will look to get back to winning ways as they welcome Barcelona to Old Trafford in the Champions League quarter-finals.

William Hill are running their Golden Goal offer for this game. This promotion sees pre-game single bets on the match odds market settled as winner in cash if the team in question scores the first goal of the game, regardless of the result. T&Cs apply.

For example, anyone placing a single bet on Barcelona at 19/20 (1.95) before the action gets underway would be paid out should the Catalan giants score first.

Likewise, United backers at 14/5 (3.80) would be entitled to the same treatment if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men made the breakthrough, even if they don't go on to win the game.

The Golden Goal offer has a maximum pay out of up to £50 in cash (plus qualifying stake) and only applies to the first single wager placed for each game. For example, punters are not able to back both teams in the hope of securing this concession on whichever side scored the opening goal.

The hosts will be looking to bounce back from three defeats in four games in all competitions coming into this tie. Solskjaer has secured a long-term deal at Old Trafford but with their top four hopes suffering a hit plus an early exit from the FA Cup, it could be another ultimately unfulfilling campaign for the Red Devils overall.

Barca are flying in La Liga and with Lionel Messi in emphatic form it's easy to see why the visitors are favourites although their away record in Europe does raise some questions.

The Spanish champions have only won five of their previous 15 Champions League matches on the road, failing to come out on top against Lyon and Inter in the group stage this season.

With this concession in mind though, the visitors would only need to score first in order to see their backers rewarded.

United overcame a 2-0 first leg deficit in Paris to progress from the last 16 but their struggles to score at home have been evident throughout the campaign. The hosts have only scored one goal in four European matches at Old Trafford this season and that came against Young Boys in November.

Three of those games were under the stewardship of Jose Mourinho though, with the squad showing much more promise in the final third after Solskjaer's arrival.

Regardless of which way bettors choose to go with this match, William Hill's Golden Goal promotion looks set to add even more excitement to what could be a blockbuster Champions League tie.
