Ahmed El Mohamady nets in Aston Villa’s stalemate with Reading

Ahmed El Mohamady scored in Aston Villa’s 1-1 draw with Reading in the English Championship outing on Saturday.

The Egypt midfielder opened the scoring in the 51st minute, after being picked out by Anwar El-Ghazi, to mark his second goal this term.

Josh Sims was fouled in the penalty area in the stoppage time and Sam Baldock fired the ball past the goalkeeper Oerjan Haaskjold Nyland to salvage a point for Paul Clement’s charges.

El Mohamady played the full duration, while Jonathan Kodjia who netted twice during the week was replaced by Neil Taylor in the 90th minute. Ghana’s Albert Adomah came on for El-Ghazi in the 67th minute.

Gambia’s Modou Barrow was substituted for Cote d’Ivoire’s Yakou Meite and Nigeria’s Sone Aluko left the stage for Sims in the 46th and 67th minute respectively for Clement’s side.

Villa are placed fourth in the table having accumulated nine points from five matches.

Bruce’s men will be hoping to maintain their unbeaten run in the English second division when they trade tackles with Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on September 1.
