Boost for Wrexham? Promotion rivals Notts County lose manager Luke Williams - who took them to fifth in League Two - as he is appointed by Swansea

According to the BBC, Williams has signed a three-and-a-half-year-long contract with the Championship club. He will replace Michael Duff on the touchline after the club sacked him at the start of last month. Ryan Harley, Williams' assistant, also makes the trip from Meadow Lane to South Wales after a brief stint at Swansea during his playing career. Notts County's first-team coach analyst George Lawtey is also moving to Swansea in the same capacity.

Swansea City president Andy Coleman said [via BBC]: "As I have said previously, we have undertaken a diligent and detailed process to find our next head coach. I have been fortunate to spend a lot of time with Luke recently. I have looked him in the eye and know that we can trust Luke to be a coach and leader who is aligned with our vision for Swansea City. He fits right into the mould of other talented and ambitious young managers who have succeeded here. I am confident our supporters will be excited by and proud of this Luke Williams-led Swansea City team."

In his first full season in command, Williams guided Notts County to promotion from the National League; the Magpies emerged victorious in the play-offs following a thrilling title struggle against Wrexham. Swansea, who defeated West Bromwich Albion 1-0 on New Year's Day, are currently eight points outside of the top six in the Championship, sitting in 16th place.

Williams' debut game in charge of Swansea City will be Saturday's FA Cup third-round fixture against Morecambe, whom his Notts County team thrashed 5-0 in League Two last week.
