  • WHAT HAPPENED?

    The Red Devils are all set to travel to Norway to play their first pre-season friendly against Rosenborg on Monday at Lerkendal Stadium. Ahead of the fixture, manager Erik ten Hag named a 25-man travelling squad, which did not include star players like Jadon Sancho, Antony, Andre Onana and Harry Maguire.

    THE EXPLANATION

    The Red Devils officially confirmed that Maguire is still recovering from an injury that saw him miss the end of the 2023-24 season and is training at Carrington, while Andre Onana, Victor Lindelof, Amad Diallo, Antony and Jadon Sancho are all still working on their fitness after summer holidays.

    A statement on the club's website reads: "A total of 25 players departed from Manchester on Sunday afternoon, ready to take part in the game. Harry Maguire is continuing to work on his recovery from injury at Carrington. Andre Onana, Victor Lindelof, Amad [Diallo], Antony and Jadon Sancho are all working on their fitness at the training ground in line with individual schedules."

    In the absence of several star names, Ten Hag has included players from the United youth teams. Senior players who have made the squad include Casemiro and Marcus Rashford.

    Defenders: Harry Amass, Sonny Aljofree, Rhys Bennett, Jonny Evans, Will Fish, Louis Jackson, Sam Murray, Habeeb Ogunneye, Maximillian Oyedele, Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

    Midfielders: Casemiro, Toby Collyer, Jack Fletcher, Hannibal, Samuel Mather, Mason Mount, James Scanlon, Ethan Williams.
