The tour was announced with a video shared by McElhenney on social media. Co-owner Reynolds featured in the clip too, with the Canadian taking the opportunity to aim a playful dig at his close friend.

McElhenney said: "You now have a chance to witness history being made. The Wrexham AFC Women are playing right here in the U.S. for the very first time."

After a perfect league record in 2022-23 (12 wins from 12 games) secured promotion, Wrexham finished a respectable third in the Adran Premier, the highest level of women's football in Wales, in the recently concluded 2023-24 campaign. It was their first season of top-flight action since withdrawing from the league during 2015-16. Reynold's and McElhenney have previously made clear that their stewardship of the club doesn't just extend to the men's team.

On July 19 and July 21 respectively, Wrexham will face SoCal FC and Tigres Femenil Under-19s at the 11,700-capacity UCLA Drake Stadium in Los Angeles. Five days later comes a trip up the Pacific coast to face Portland Thorns Academy at the 25,000-capacity Providence Park.
