    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Brady and Messi are widely considered to be the GOATs of their respective sports, and both know what it takes to win important games. That often involves getting ahead early, which is what Inter Miami did. Suarez put them ahead after just 30 seconds with a sharp finish inside the area, and the Uruguayan doubled the hosts' lead five minutes later with another neat strike. The win sealed Inter Miami's place in the 2024 MLS Cup Playoffs.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

While the scoreline looks comfortable, Inter Miami were made to sweat when Tomas Aviles received a second yellow card shortly before half-time. FC Cincinnati ended up with 17 shots compared to the hosts' four, with goalkeeper Drake Callender having to make six saves during the encounter.

    WHAT NEXT FOR INTER MIAMI?

Messi was forced to watch on again as he continues to recover from the ankle injury that he sustained in the Copa America final. He's expected to return before the playoffs begin in October though, with Inter Miami keen to ensure he isn't rushed back. The game against Philadelphia Union on September 14 has been mooted as a potential return fixture.
