Tyler Adams, the U.S. men's national team's 2022 World Cup captain, played a role in helping Bournemouth secure a 2-1 upset over Manchester City. The 25-year-old midfielder entered the fray for Bournemouth in the 66th minute of Saturday's clash with the defending Premier League champions. Adams was asked to help hold down the fort against a highly-favored City side, which he did as the Cherries emerged with the win.
Bournemouth seized the lead early on thanks to a goal from Antoine Semenyo in the ninth minute, while Evanilson's 64th-minute finish would ultimately prove to be the match-winner. That's because City made it interesting late on a goal from Josko Gvardiol in the 82nd minute, but Adams and Co. did just enough to see out the match and earn the three points.
Adams completed six of his seven passes, created one chance, won two duels and earned a yellow card for a late challenge on Jeremy Doku.
