Tom Brady reacts to Birmingham's relegation in his abysmal first year as co-owner - but NFL legend promises 'great things in the future'

<p>Birmingham beat Norwich City 1-0 on Saturday but it <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/birmingham-and-tom-brady-suffer-relegation-nightmare-wayne-rooney-decision-backfires-horribly-as-blues-drop-from-championship-into-league-one/blt58a626bc0d8a1146" target="_blank">wasn't enough to stave off relegation</a> from the Championship as Plymouth Argyle finished a point ahead of them. After the match, the Blues minority owner, who only bought a stake of the club last year, took to social media to try and rally fans.</p>

<p>Birmingham's decision to <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/tom-brady-birmingham-john-eustace-wayne-rooney/blt81efa3c448c55bf4" target="_blank">sack John Eustace when they were sixth in the Championship</a> in October and replace him with Wayne Rooney spectacularly backfired. The former Derby County manager <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/wayne-rooney-sacked-tom-brady-birmingham-wield-axe-man-utd-legend-sorry-reign-ended-15-games/blt03d7f3428428dff9" target="_blank">lasted a matter of months</a> and Gary Rowett, who came in as interim boss after <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/lists/gary-rowett-birmingham-fourth-manager-2023-24-season-tony-mowbray-medical-leave-wayne-rooney-tom-brady/blt1bc86f04ff15c703" target="_blank">Tony Mowbray was forced to take a medical leave of absence</a>, was unable to keep them up. Now they are in the English third tier for the first time in 29 years.</p>

<p>In March, Birmingham said Mowbray would return for their 2024-25 pre-season campaign, which will now be in League One. That new season gets underway in early August.</p>
