    THE BIGGER PICTURE

There has been immense speculation regarding the future of Vini Jr., with Saudi Arabia looming large like sharks. Reports stated that the 24-year-old is seriously considering the offer, with the Real Madrid players talking about the same inside the dressing room.

On Wednesday, Ancelotti fielded a heavily-rotated side against Real Sociedad in the first leg of the Copa del Rey. With Luka Modric and Lucas Vazquez starting on the bench, Dani Carvajal out injured, and Fede Valverde rested, Vini Jr. got the opportunity to put on the armband for the first time ever.

Following the game, the Brazilian winger expressed his euphoria and made it pretty clear that he wants to stay at the Bernabeu for many more years to come.

  • WHAT VINI JR. SAID

“It’s something very special,” Vinicius told Real Madrid TV after the match (h/t Managing Madrid). “After so much time here and at 24 years old, playing my first game as captain is a source of pride for me and my family, after everything we’ve been through to be here, to reach the club of my dreams and to be able to fulfill my dreams... I hope I can continue doing this for a long time.

“I’m happy with the team, with being able to reach a semi-final of the Cup as captain of the biggest club in the world, it’s something inexplicable. I’m experiencing it, it’s something I’ve never dreamed of or imagined... Next game I’ll reach 300 games and I already want 400 and 500. I want to make history at this club.”
