  • WHAT HAPPENED?

    Rodriguez joined La Liga side Rayo Vallecano in the summer of 2024 as a free agent and signed a year-long deal with the Spanish side. However, the 2014 World Cup Golden Boot winner has been restricted to just seven appearances in all competitions. Rayo Vallecano have now mutually terminated the Colombian's contract at Estadio de Vallecas and Rodriguez is now free to join other clubs on a free transfer.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

    O Jogo has now reported that Rodriguez is interested in moving back to the Premier League in January having spent one year at Everton during the 2020-21 season. The report has stated that Premier League sides Aston Villa, Wolves, Fulham and Nottingham Forest are interested in the Colombian midfielder.

    WHAT NEXT FOR RODRIGUEZ?

    The Colombian and Rayo Vallecano parted ways due to both sporting and economic reasons as per The Athletic. Rodriguez has not been in bad form over the last two years and could be a good addition for the likes of Unai Emery's Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest as they look to compete for the European places in the Premier League this season.
