  • WHAT HAPPENED?

United looked set to pick up all three points at Brentford, despite being second best for the majority of the match, when Mason Mount scored his first goal for the club in the 96th minute. However, Brentford hit back just three minutes later to ensure the hosts picked up a point from the Premier League encounter.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Saturday's match was yet another disappointing performance from the Red Devils that leaves them with little chance of securing a top-four finish. United now sit 11 points behind Aston Villa and and eight adrift of Tottenham in fifth. The Red Devils enjoyed a thrilling 4-3 win over Liverpool last time out in the FA Cup but were perhaps fortunate to take anything away from Brentford, as the hosts dominated throughout and ended up having 31 shots on goal during the match.

  • WHAT ONANA SAID

Onana was clearly disappointed afterwards, telling the club's website: "I feel sad because we are Manchester United, so it doesn't matter who you play. Everywhere we go, we have to win. We gave away this game in the end. We did a fantastic job defending – it was not our best game – but the most important thing was to win. So, yeah, it's difficult."

    WHAT NEXT FOR MAN UTD

A poor night for Manchester United was compounded by injuries to defenders Raphael Varane and Victor Lindelof who were both forced off at the Gtech Community Stadium. The Red Devils will aim to bounce back on Thursday when they head to Chelsea in the Premier League.
