  • WHAT HAPPENED?

    Enzo Maresca wants to add a top frontman to his Chelsea squad in the summer but must offload players in order to comply with Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) restrictions, according to the Daily Mail. The Blues have a bloated squad at present which means they could potentially offload an entire XI of players in an attempt to raise the funds needed for such a signing.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

    The Blues have a host of players out on loan this season who could all be moved on in the summer. Goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga and defenders Alfie Gilchrist, Trevoh Chalobah, Axel Disasi and Ben Chilwell may all be sold. They could be joined by the likes of Raheem Sterling, Renato Veiga, Carney Chukwuemeka and Joax Felix as well as attackers Armando Broja and David Datro Fofana.

    Christopher Nkunku and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall are also being tipped to depart after struggling for starts at Stamford Bridge this season, while the Blues have been told by former player William Gallas to send Jadon Sancho back to Manchester United. Napoli striker Victor Osimhen continues to be linked with a summer switch to Maresca's side.

    The Blues will be hoping to end the season strongly before what may be another busy summer transfer window. Maresca's side remain in contention in the Conference League and currently sit fourth in the Premier League table. Chelsea return to action after the international break against Tottenham in the Premier League.
