  • WHAT KOLO MUANI SAID

Kolo Muani said: "I have seen the criticism since I arrived at PSG. And the criticisms make us evolve, that’s good to hear. It's like advice. You have to take criticism into account and improve so that these same criticisms disappear. It's logical. Concerning the transfer price, it is important. Personally, it's hard to digest. It's another pressure for me to take on. I am digesting little by little. But I'll tell you a secret: over time, people will say that it was a good price for Randal Kolo Muani. I know that at the moment people are saying: '€90m for Kolo Muani, what is that?' I say: 'They will see', quite simply."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Kolo Muani played his way into France's World Cup squad during a breakout season with Eintracht Frankfurt in 2022-23. He signed a long-term PSG contract until 2028, yet just six starts in Ligue 1 and only five goals, as well as a poor return in the Champions League, isn't the record of a player who cost nearly nine figures to buy. Kylian Mbappe has scored four times as many league goals and already 30 in all competitions, although Kolo Muani is actually still the club's second top scorer on eight in total.

    WHAT NEXT FOR KOLO MUANI?

Quite simply, Kolo Muani has to establish himself as a regular starter if he is to prove his worth in a PSG shirt. He has started three of the club's last four league games, but as a winger rather than a central striker, where Mbappe holds the role. Ultimately, there is a real chance that Mbappe is no longer at PSG come next season and Kolo Muani will want to position himself to fill the void, rather than be overlooked for a new signing, if it happens.
