  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Pogba's older brother, Mathias, was sentenced to a three-year jail term, two of which were suspended, after being convicted of attempting to extort the ex-Juventus star. Nine months on from that verdict, the 32-year-old World Cup winner seems to have buried the hatchet with his sibling after posting an Instagram photo of him, Mathias, and Florentin Pogba together.

  • WHAT POGBA SAID

The three siblings appeared to be in good spirits in the photo, with Pogba writing: "Love live my brothers".

Many fans have questioned this conciliatory post, with some pointing out that Mathias tried to destroy his career. Nonetheless, it seems relations have improved between the brothers since last year.

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

This comes less than two years on from Pogba, who returned from a doping ban in March, saying he had considered retiring from football because of the extortion attempt. While Mathias avoided time behind bars and is instead serving one year wearing an electronic bracelet after being fined £16,500, five other men were found guilty of extortion and other crimes and received sentences between four to eight years.

    WHAT NEXT?

After what must have been a very difficult period in Pogba's life -  which included him being held at gunpoint in 2022, before being told to hand over £10.8 million ($14.5m) - the experienced midfielder will now be focused on making his debut for Monaco.
