Newcastle submit £16 million bid for Burnley goalkeeper also targeted by Chelsea and Liverpool

The Daily Mail has reported that the Magpies have offered Burnley £16 million ($20.3m) to acquire the services of the Manchester City youth product. However, the Clarets will reportedly try to hold out as they push for a fee closer to £20 million ($25.4m) for the highly-rated 21-year-old.

Chelsea, Liverpool and Bayern Munich have also shown interest in the goalkeeper as they look to provide competition to their current coterie of keepers and build up towards the future. At St. James' Park, it is said that Eddie Howe is a big fan of the keeper, who made 28 Premier League appearances for Burnley last season.

Newcastle had earlier shown interest in Arsenal and England star Aaron Ramsdale and were close to submitting a bid for the 26-year-old. However, Arsenal's high valuation of the keeper put the Magpies off, and they have now switched targets to Trafford.

Newcastle can close the deal quickly and not wait for the completion of the Euros with Trafford not making the final cut in Gareth Southgate's squad despite having been on the 33-man preliminary list.
