Nasreddine Nabi 'surprised to hear negative comments' about Flavio Silva from Kaizer Chiefs critics - 'it’s our duty to protect him’

In their bid to strengthen the attacking department, Kaizer Chiefs signed Flavio Silva to replace Ranga Chivaviro, who had been released after his contract expired.

However, the striker has struggled to deliver as anticipated, something that has invited criticism from doubters.

Amakhosi have not had a clinical finisher in a while, which explains the frustration among a section of supporters. 

The Glamour Boys are set to compete domestically and abroad, in the CAF Confederation Cup, explaining why they have to get it right in the transfer market.

It explains the concern from a section of the fans, especially in a critical department.

However, coach Nasreddine Nabi is convinced Silva will deliver, and he just needs time to adapt.

“I was a little bit surprised to hear about those negative comments,” he told the Prime Sports.

“But as far as the player has signed for Kaizer Chiefs, it’s our duty to protect him, to work very well, and also to give him time to adapt.

“And that goes, not only for Flavio, but for anyone that are new.

“I will not speak about him specifically, but we need to put all the new players in the same basket and the young ones as well, who came from our DDC team," Nabi concluded.

The first competitive assignment for Silva will be this weekend when Amakhosi play Stellenbosch in the Premier Soccer League.

That will be a massive platform for Silva to show what he brings to the club.
