Mauricio Pochettino to escape Chelsea sack? Blues fear axing manager will cost over £10m which could bring points deduction for breaching FFP rules

The Blues have already lost 10 Premier League games out of the 23 they have played this season and currently find themselves 11th in the league. But despite the team's poor run of form, the club may not be able to sack manager Mauricio Pochettino as they are on the brink of breaching FFP rules, according to the Daily Mail.

The sacking of Pochettino, who still has 18 months left in his existing contract, will cost Chelsea over £10m (€11m/£12.5m). After spending over £1 billion on player transfers since Todd Boehly took over the club, the Blues are currently very close to breaching the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR). As per reports, the two-time European champions have been asked to raise £100 million ($128m) through player sales in the summer, if they want to avoid points deductions like Everton.

The London-based club had planned to offload players like Armando Broja, Conor Gallagher and Trevoh Chalobah as selling homegrown players is considered pure profit in PSR rules. Broja eventually went on loan to Fulham while Gallagher and Chalobah have remained at Stamford Bridge.

Pochettino's side will be next seen in action on Wednesday as they take on Aston Villa in an FA Cup fourth-round replay encounter.
