  • WHAT HAPPENED?

The Madrid-based side crashed out at the last-16 stage after a brace from Isaac Romero and a Sergio Ramos strike sealed a 3-1 victory for the Andalusian outfit. While Ramos opened the scoring, it was his defending that was naturally lauded by Sevilla after full time in a direct jibe at United loanee Greenwood.

  • WHAT SEVILLA SAID

Sevilla's official English-speaking X account wrote "Sergio Ramos emptying his back pocket after the game tonight" as a caption alongside pictures of a pair of keys, wallet, phone and - as the meme dictates - a picture of Greenwood.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

The rather surprising post aimed directly at Greenwood hints at how he has been a divisive figure since his controversial move to Spain. The 23-year-old was met with "die" chants from Osasuna fans during his full debut with Getafe, while he was recently sent off for dissent before seeing his red card rescinded after La Liga backtracked. On the pitch, though, the one-cap England international continues to perform, with nine goal contributions in 18 matches to his name so far this term.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Greenwood's performances have reportedly attracted the interest of some of Spain's most storied clubs. Sevilla themselves were first registered with an interest in the forward, while La Liga giants Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid have all been linked with a summer move.

    WHAT NEXT FOR GREENWOOD?

Getafe's Copa del Rey journey comes to an end, meaning Greenwood's efforts will now solely be on securing his side European football before his loan expires. They currently sit six points out from the Europa Conference League places in 10th in the La Liga table.
