    WHAT HAPPENED?

One-cap England international Greenwood headed to France when completing a £27 million ($33m) transfer last summer. Having been named Player of the Season during a loan spell at Getafe in 2023-24, the 23-year-old was able to hit the ground running again in new surroundings.

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Greenwood has taken his goal tally for the current campaign to 12 in all competitions, with his exploits towards the end of the last calendar year seeing him named Ligue 1 Player of the Month for December. That fine form has carried over into 2025.

    WHAT GREENWOOD SAID

A goal and assist were registered in his latest outing – a 2-1 victory over Rennes – but Greenwood insists that points, rather than end product, remain his top priority. He has told reporters: “I'm very happy with these goals and to support my team, but I'm not sad if I don't score. As long as we win, I don't care. I want to win every game.”

  • WHAT NEXT?

Marseille will need to keep on winning if they want to chase down Paris Saint-Germain and claim a first league title since 2010, with the reigning champions still seven points clear at the summit. Greenwood and Co. do, however, appear to be well on course for Champions League qualification.
