  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Earps has had a tough start to life in France, conceding five goals over two legs in the Women's Champions League qualifier against Juventus, with the French giants suffering a shock exit from Europe. The poor performances saw her dropped from the club's next two league matches as Katarzyna Kiedrzynek was named ahead of the English goalkeeper.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Hampton, on the other hand, has had an impressive start to her campaign with the Blues as they've maintained a 100 per cent win record across all competitions. With the young goalkeeper's rise, England boss Weigman has admitted that Earps is no longer the team's automatic No.1 choice and will face competition from the Chelsea star.

  • WHAT SARINA WIEGMAN SAID

Speaking to reporters, the Lionesses manager said: "You bring this message as if she's not a starting player for PSG and I think she is. She's the number one goalkeeper. There's competition there, too. That's obvious. She started this weekend. I think moving to France, of course, she's adapting, a new situation.

"Unfortunately, they didn't qualify for the group stage in the Champions League which is a disappointment for them, for Mary and for us too, because we want to see her in the Champions League. So that's not the start I think she had hoped for but still, we know what she brings for us and we also know there's a huge competition going on between her and Hannah, and Anna also coming in."
