    WHAT HAPPENED?

Marumo Gallants survived the crowd pressure to share spoils against Kaizer Chiefs in the Premier Soccer League game staged at the FNB Stadium.

The 29-year-old Jaisen Clifford scored a stunner past Brandon Petersen to silence the home crowd, who, until then, were cheering thanks to Khanyisa Mayo's early lead.

It was a massive result for coach Alexandre Lafitte, who was facing a side desperate for a win after losing two and drawing one of their initial three games across all competitions.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

The 1-1 draw on Wednesday was the third consecutive time, in a week, that Bahlabane Ba Ntwa have shared the spoils by the same scoreline.

They managed to hold the defending Premier Soccer League champions before again playing to a draw with Orbit College.

Coach Lafitte is disappointed with the way games have been spaced in such a short time.

    WHAT LAFITTE SAID

"I'm happy with the outcome of this match, but I'm frustrated with the schedule because we have played three matches in one week," he said after the game.

"But it is important to remain positive and to collect points.

"I am a winner, and I am here to improve the team and help the team compete against the best in this country," Lafitte concluded.

  • WHAT NEXT?

Gallants are currently 10th on the PSL table with as many points from the eight games they have played.

On Sunday, they will be playing struggling Siwelele, a match that coach Lehlohonolo Seema has promised to win after the recent loss against Orlando Pirates.
