Marcus Rashford's escape route?! Manchester United in 'tentative' talks with Barcelona over late loan deal for exiled star as transfer deadline nears

Rashford has been cast out of Manchester United's first-team squad by Ruben Amorim over the last month as the Portuguese coach has been publically vocal about the England international's lack of commitment. As such, Rashford has been tipped for a departure this January and has been linked with AC Milan, Borussia Dortmund, and his preferred club, Barcelona.

Barcelona are said to be keen on adding Rashford to Hansi Flick's already strong offensive lineup through a loan deal but have been struggling to find wiggle room in their wage bill to fit in the England international. However, the departures of youngsters Pau Prim and Unai Hernandez could give them space to sign Rashford on a deal for the rest of the season. The Telegraph has reported that Manchester United have held 'tentative' talks with the Catalan side over a loan move ahead of the winter transfer deadline day.

Rashford currently earns over £300,000 per week, following a long-term contract signed with Manchester United in 2023. Reports have suggested that if a loan agreement between the Red Devils and Barcelona can be reached, Rashford remains open to taking a wage cut due to the La Liga side's ongoing financial difficulties.

The winter transfer window is due to shut on February 3, and as such, there is still time for Manchester United and Barcelona to reach an agreement over a loan move. However, if Rashford does end up staying at Old Trafford, he is likely to remain in exile, with Amorim still adamant that the forward won't be reinstated to his starting XI unless he fixes his attitude.
