Man Utd to pay tribute to victims of Manchester terrorist attack before Sunderland game

Manchester United will pay tribute to the victims of the terrorist attack at a local synagogue this week when they play Sunderland at Old Trafford on Saturday. Two men were killed when a man drove into members of the public before stabbing people worshipping in the north of the city on Thursday. The perpetrator was shot dead by armed police, who accidentally killed one of the victims.

United to hold minute's silence and wear black armbands
United have been granted permission by the Premier League to hold a minute's silence before the game and for the team to wear black armbands to honour the victims.

United boss Ruben Amorim expressed his sympathy with the victims. He told a press conference: "It's a crazy world that we are living in the moment, a lot of these things are happening. Of course, our sympathy for for the victims, and we will pay tribute tomorrow."
Echoes of horrific 2017 attack
Police said that three people remain in hospital, one of whom is being treated for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. The attack has brought back memories of the 2017 bombing at the Manchester Arena, when 22 people plus the perpetrator were killed by an explosion during an Ariana Grande concert.
