Man Utd appoint former England & Man City man hailed as 'industry leader' as performance director to create 'elite environment' for Erik ten Hag and his squad

Erith has joined Manchester United on an interim basis as the performance director until the end of the season. The 46-year-old specialises in player performance and sports science and has previously worked with Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, as well as England and Tottenham Hotspur, and most recently New York-based Madison Square Garden Sports.

Erith will work closely with sporting director Dan Ashworth to establish an elite environment for manager Erik ten Hag and his squad as they attempt to turn around a challenging start to the season. United has only been victorious once in its first three Premier League games, losing to Liverpool and Brighton & Hove Albion.

After INEOS and Sir Jim Ratcliffe completed their minority takeover of Manchester United United in January, the team's off-field operations evolved to lengths. Omar Berrada made the move from Manchester City to take over as the club's new CEO during a summer of transition. Jason Wilcox joined as technical director from Southampton, and Ashworth arrived after drawn-out talks with Newcastle.

The 46-year-old is set to join the club's dynamics on Monday, September 9 and will work with the diminished squad and Ten Hag until the international break ends. United will be in action next when they take on Southampton on September 14.
