WHAT HAPPENED?
The United left-back was one of several bright sparks for Erik ten Hag's men in an opening half where they took a 1-0 lead through striker Rasmus Hojlund on Sunday afternoon. However, the England international did not emerge for the second half and fellow defender Victor Lindelof took his place, raising fears he may have suffered a fresh injury blow.

THE BIG PICTURE
While Shaw is an important player for United, highlighted by the former Southampton man signing a new contract through to 2027 last year, he has made just 13 appearances this season due to injury. The 28-year-old missed several months of the 2023-24 campaign due to a muscle injury and if he has suffered another setback that is a big blow for the Red Devils - especially with key defender Lisandro Martinez currently sidelined.

DID YOU KNOW?
Since Shaw's £30 million ($37.8m) move from Saints to United in 2014, he has played 273 times for the Premier League giants. However, he has had lengthy spells on the sidelines due to various hamstring, foot and lower leg injuries.
WHAT NEXT?
Villa are set to travel to Fulham next Saturday, whereas United take on Luton Town a day later. The Red Devils will hope that Shaw will be able to return to the starting lineup as soon as possible.
