Luis Diaz makes big transfer decision as Barcelona aim to challenge PSG to sign Liverpool star

According to SPORT, Diaz would like to join Barcelona in the summer transfer window as the Catalan club look for vital reinforcements ahead of next season. Barca intend to recruit two or three players in the upcoming window, with the winger and midfielder positions currently a priority. The Colombian star has been heavily linked with a move in recent months and reports have since emerged regarding his desire to join the Spanish giants.

According to Colombian outlet El Heraldo, Liverpool have slapped an eye-watering price-tag of between €120-€145 million (£102m-£123m/$131m-164m) on Diaz if Barcelona did want to secure the signing. Ligue 1 giants PSG had also been credited with an interest as they prepare for the imminent departure of Kylian Mbappe this summer. The player is contracted until 2027 and has been a vital part of the squad throughout the 2023-24 campaign.

Diaz's father, Luis Manuel Diaz, has previously commented on a potential move to Barcelona for his son, where he outlined how it would be his 'dream' to play at the club.

"The truth is that I know very little about Barcelona at the moment. It is true that Luis is a loyal Barcelona fan and it would be his dream to go there," he told Win Sports. "So far I would like to thank Porto and Liverpool for the way they welcomed him and received him. Luis is a player who finds it easy to win over because of the way he is, because of his humility, his work, his dedication, he is a very disciplined player, thank God. There would be no problem if Luis came to Barcelona because it is a top team and one of the best in the world."

For now, Diaz will focus on helping his team as much as possible. Liverpool have dropped out of both the FA Cup and Europa League but can still secure the Premier League trophy to mark Jurgen Klopp's exit in style this season. The Reds have already won the Carabao Cup and currently sit three points off Arsenal at the top of the table. They are next in action on Sunday afternoon against Fulham.
