Leah Williamson sends message to Arsenal team-mate Lotte Wubben-Moy after defender scores first Lionesses goal in Italy rout

A brace from Lauren Hemp and goals from Wubben-Moy,Ella Toone and Rachel Daly powered the Lionesses to a 5-1 win over Italy in an international friendly in Spain. It was just Wubben-Moy's third England cap, but she made it a memorable night by scoring just seconds after the first whistle to set the tone for the Lionesses' emphatic win. Williamson, who had to withdraw from the squad due to a hamstring issue, kept a close watch on the action in Spain and had a little message for her Arsenal teammate on her special day.

Williamson wrote: "Who you are" while sharing a celebration picture of Wubben-Moy along with other players.

Wubben-Moy's celebration was a tribute to an inspirational, deaf England fan, Izzy, with whom she had a brief encounter back in July 2023. It is a fun move which involves a brief yet rapid shake of the hips with the arms crossed against each other.

Although Wubben-Moy will be back in action on Sunday in a north-London derby against Tottenham with the Gunners, Williamson's return date cannot be ascertained. Arsenal are third in the WSL standings but just three points behind joint-leaders Chelsea & Manchester City who are on 34.
