  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Tashreeq Morris was among the new players SuperSport United signed in the most recent transfer window.

The 30-year-old striker was the hero in the Premier Soccer League match involving the Swanky Boys and Kaizer Chiefs at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday, October 26, a match they won by a solitary goal scored by the lanky attacker.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Prior to his move to the Swanky Boys, Morris had been left in the cold at Sekhukhune United, with his last involvement with the team coming way back in December.

The forward was sidelined after falling out with the management and the technical team. He has since explained what went wrong at Babina Noko.

    WHAT MORRIS SAID

"The first season [at Sekhukhune] as a whole wasn't too bad but the second season came and then there started to become off-the-field issues and certain things that I wouldn't want to go into too much detail because at the end of the day, they are still a club, there are still players that are playing there," Morris told SABC Sport.

"It had nothing to do with football, it had nothing to do with my ability as to can I perform, can I play, nothing about that.

"It was something that was off the field whereby I protected my integrity and my beliefs and that caused me to end up not playing for the club and having to train with their DDC team for nearly six months."

    AND WHAT IS MORE

After getting released by his former team, Morris started the season without a team before coach Gavin Hunt changed that.

"Obviously, I think I'm grateful to the coach, to the technical team, to the club for bringing me on board and showing that immediate belief in me by giving me a start against Chiefs which is not just any game you'll play within the PSL.

"No disrespect to any other team but yeah, it just shows the belief that they have in me."

    WHAT NEXT?

Morris will now have to make up for lost time by ensuring he delivers consistently for his new team.

With Bradley Grobler injured and Terrence Dzvukamanja struggling, the former Sekhukhune striker has to step up.
