    WHAT HAPPENED?

Kaizer Chiefs have been struggling for a reliable goalkeeper to instill confidence at the back.

Fiacre Ntwari, Brandon Petersen, and Bruce Bvuma have not been delivering as expected.

It was Bvuma who eventually won coach Nasreddine Nabi's heart.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Prior to the Nedbank Cup final, Bvuma was blamed for Marumo Gallants' win over Amakhosi, which was followed by another loss against Orlando Pirates in the Premier Soccer League.

Despite that, the majority of the fans had anticipated Bvuma to retain his place in goal this weekend.

However, Nabi opted to start Petersen, who last played for Chiefs on December 8 against Polokwane City.

  • WHAT NABI SAID

“We have been having rotation on our goalkeepers, first it was [Fiacre] Ntwari and now Petersen. Petersen has been training extremely well," he told SABC 1 in a pre-match interview.

“His ability in the air and we have noticed that Bruce has had an enormous amount of pressure in the previous which could affect his performances negatively.

“We want to protect him and we believe that at this moment the best choice is Petersen.”

    WHAT NEXT?

Rwanda international Ntwari might be on his way out of the team after an unsuccessful campaign.

Petersen and Bvuma have been making costly errors and despite Saturday's change, Nabi might be signing another custodian.

It is interesting to see who will be given the chance next season.
