    Why not FNB Stadium

"Kaizer Chiefs are gearing up for a crucial double-header in the second preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup, with venues and dates now confirmed for their home and away fixtures against AS Simba of the Democratic Republic of Congo," the club's statement read.

"Amakhosi will travel to Lubumbashi for the first leg later this week. The match is scheduled to kick off at 15:00 on Saturday, 18 October, at TP Mazembe stadium, marking their first engagement with opponents from DRC for a decade. The team was last in the nation’s capital, Kinshasa, back in 2014 when they faced AS Vita in the preliminary stages of the CAF Champions League," it added.

"With the FNB stadium not available, the return leg will be hosted at Dobsonville Stadium in Soweto on Sunday, 26 October. With home advantage, Chiefs will look to seal their spot in the group stages of this season’s competition."

How Chiefs reached second qualification round

The Soweto giants fell to a 1-0 defeat to Kabuscorp in the first leg in Luanda, putting themselves under immense pressure ahead of the return action.

However, Chiefs managed to hold their nerves and beat their rivals in post-match penalties after the game ended in a 1-0 scoreline in their favour. The aggregate scoreline was 1-1, and that meant the winner had to be decided from the spot kicks.

After a scrappy shootout, the Premier Soccer League side managed a 5-4 victory, booking their ticket against Simba.

    Coaching change

The game against the DR Congo side will be their first since Amakhosi confirmed the departure of Nasreddine Nabi and the elevation of Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze, who will be in charge this season.

Chiefs will be keen to avoid another humiliation after they were recently eliminated from the Carling Knockout Cup by Stellenbosch.
