Jurgen Klopp responds to Mohamed Salah spat ahead of Liverpool's Premier League clash with Tottenham

Salah had a heated exchange with Klopp as he prepared to come on as a substitute against West Ham during last weekend's away clash at London Stadium. Salah appeared visibly frustrated by something Klopp said and was escorted away by team-mates Darwin Nunez and Joe Gomez. Despite media interest, Salah declined to reveal what transpired between the two and said: "If I speak, there will be fire."

According to professional lip reader John Cassidy, Salah threatened Klopp that he would get himself sent off and argued that "there's nothing I can do about that, nothing" - alluding to some incident which has not been clear yet. Whereas, West Ham's Michail Antonio suggested that the feud might have started after the Egyptian did not acknowledge Klopp's customary handshake and hug.

Klopp has always played down the incident and the manager once again assured the fans that the issue has been "completely resolved".

Talking to reporters, Klopp added: "There's no problem. We are absolutely fine with it. It's a non-story. I think we have the right to deal with these things completely independent of any expectations from the outside.

"If we didn't know each other for that long I am not sure how we would deal with it but we have known each other for that long and respect each other so much that it's really no problem.

"The best situation would be everyone is in the best place, we win the games and score loads of goals then yes, the situation probably would not have been like that because Mo wouldn't have been on the bench in the first place. It all depends on each other."

Klopp's tenure at Liverpool is drawing to a close, with the end of the season marking his departure after nine successful years at Anfield. As for Salah's future at Liverpool, the Egyptian forward has one year remaining on his contract but has been linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League. Nonetheless, both the manager and the player would like to finish the campaign on a high by winning the three remaining matches starting with a clash against Tottenham on Sunday followed by matches against Aston Villa and Wolves.
